We love you Everton, we do
I wanted to get all my thoughts down on here before writing a post on my other blog, which I will tonight. So that was a weird game. I’m both sad and happy at the same time. I’m immensely proud of the performance of the players, and immensely heartbroken that they didn’t get the win that I felt they deserved. (Yes, I know that I often say that teams don’t really deserve...

The Independent interview with Mikel Arteta →
“When I came here six years ago, I could speak English but I didn’t know anyone. I knew nothing about the club. After just a week I felt so welcome, joking with the kit man, the masseur, the gaffer. It’s so nice to come here every day, to feel part of something and know that everyone feels the same, from the players to the chefs. I’ve never felt that...

Outside the Lines: Dear Nate (by Tom Friend) →
“They all met at the basketball offices, the staff and players. Eddie Sutton says he slipped out of the room to weep for a few minutes, then returned knowing he had to call the families of the victims. He says he thought of Nate and Daniel, the players who switched. He switched people at the last minute all the time, and he says he wasn’t going to blame himself because if he...

Freedom of Speech
What it does not mean: That someone, having given their opinion, has the right to be free from all potential consequences or criticism resulting from him/her exercising his/her “right of free speech.” Yeah, I know I said I would be politics-free. I’m trying really.

Oh, and another thing
Anyone who calls their own player a quitter or says they have no heart because he did not play with a serious injury and burns their jersey because of it is not a fan I want to be associated with one of my teams.

I hate it when people make fun of athletes for being injured. I mean, I don’t even like Jay Cutler, but if I got a major injury ruling me out of one of the biggest games of my career, I’d cry too (and don’t tell me it’s okay because I’m a woman — that’s a bs double standard). I never got the whole “man up” idea. I mean, people have emotions....

Bolton's Stuart Holden: 'I got the x-ray results... →
fyeahstuartholden: The US midfielder is thriving now but had played only one game for Bolton when a tackle by Nigel de Jong broke his leg Love Stu. I would love him at Everton, even though that’ll probably never happen.

“I work over 40 hours a week in a terrible job, earning my wages which are barely enough to support me and THAT TEAM is getting paid an absurd amount of money to perform, not to lose to (insert team here) and make my life even more miserable than it already is!” I hate this. When I hear people say this, I want to scream. If you’re bitter about athlete’s wages, then say so...

Blackburn set to back El Hadji Diouf over James... →
Mackie was also angry about the Senegalese. “I’m trying hard not to think about Diouf,” said the Scotland international. “That’s because when I do it makes me want to snap my cast off and run up there and find him.” Two things: 1. All the best to Mackie in his recovery. 2. I love it when players don’t feel the need to censor how they really feel.

Any trash talk or banter that I engage in about...
Please don’t take it seriously. It’s a game, it’s sports, banter is part of the fun. I don’t really have a problem with people because they cheer for a team I hate or like a player I can’t stand.

A Farewell to Politics (for now)
I said on Twitter that I would no longer participate in any political conversations online, and that this action was a political protest. The comment was partly in jest, but very much true, and I just felt like I should explain myself. I consider myself a left-leaning moderate. I have friends who are conservative and friends who are liberal and friends who don’t really care, and lately...
